Promo's Sharpest Minds, One Question Away

Ask about pricing, growth, supplier relationships, the thing keeping you up tonight, or any question you'd save for a mentor, and get answers from 350+ conversations with people who've lived it.

New to skucast? It's the promo industry's podcast. Since 2017, host Bobby Lehew has interviewed the distributors, suppliers, and experts who've shaped this industry, and this tool is built on every one of those conversations.

What if you could put promo's best leaders in one room and just ask?

NOW YOU CAN.

Here's What an Answer Looks Like

Someone asked what the most profitable distributors do differently. Here's part of what came back:

What do the most profitable promo distributors do differently than everyone else?
The most profitable distributors I've talked to do a few things that stand out.
First, they're brutally selective about who they work with. They don't chase every deal. One distributor I talked to actually eliminated their bottom 20 percent of inactive customers to focus energy on the accounts that mattered. That sounds harsh, but it freed up capacity to actually serve the people worth serving.1
Second, they split their growth into channels instead of just chasing new logos. Caleb Gilbertson at Imprint Engine put it this way: they have a team focused purely on growth, but that growth includes finding expansion opportunities within existing enterprise clients.2

See those little numbers? Every answer shows you which episode and conversation it came from.

Three Rules It Never Breaks

This isn't a search engine, and it isn't improvising. Every answer follows the same three rules.

Episodes only

Every answer comes from what guests have actually said on skucast, not the open internet and not generic AI knowledge. If it isn't in the show, it isn't in the answer.

Every answer links back

Each response cites the episode behind it, so you can click through, hear the conversation in context, and judge for yourself.

It admits what it doesn't know

It's an AI, which means it gets things wrong sometimes. When the show hasn't covered something, it tells you so instead of making something up.

A quick tour of what Ask skucast is, how it works, and what real questions and answers look like.

How It Works

Ask it anything

Type it or say it out loud, the way you'd ask a colleague. The voice feature is the sleeper hit here; it sounds so much like Bobby that our own team did a double take.

It searches the show

It looks across nine years of episodes: every guest, every hard-won lesson, every "here's what I'd do differently."

You get an answer with receipts

You get a real answer in plain language, linked to the exact episode it came from, so you can hear the full conversation whenever you want.

Wait, what's skucast?

For nine years, Bobby Lehew has interviewed promo's sharpest minds on skucast, commonsku's podcast: 350+ conversations with the people who've actually run the businesses, about pricing, growth, suppliers, and building a merch business you enjoy running. Ask skucast puts all of it one question away.

Fair Questions

Is that actually Bobby?+

No, and he'd want us to be clear about that. It's an AI trained on the show, built with Bobby's involvement and reviewed by him. He hosted the conversations, the guests did the living, and the tool just makes nine years of it searchable and audible.

Is it free?+

Yes. It's free, there's no signup, and it lives right on this page. Ask it one question or forty.

What should I ask it?+

Anything a distributor would bring to the show: pricing conversations, growing your book, supplier relationships, using AI in your business, hiring your first ops person. If skucast has covered it, Ask skucast can speak to it. If not, it'll say so.

Is this commonsku support?+

No. Ask skucast answers industry questions, not platform questions. For help with your commonsku account, reach out through the usual support channels.

Why did commonsku build this?+

For the same reason we make the podcast. This industry runs on shared knowledge, and after nine years of skucast there's more of it than any one person could listen to. Building useful things for this community is kind of our thing. (Also, nobody else has done this. We checked.)

Your First Question is Waiting

The advice you need is usually one good conversation away. This is 350 of them.
