Let's talk about the details of how we came up with the awesome branding for skucamp 2023! We wanted to capture the funky vibes of the City of Austin, so we took inspiration from the city itself.
We went all-in on the "Keep Austin Weird" motto and incorporated bold and swirly shapes that you can find on murals all over the city.

We conducted a word association exercise with our internal marketing team to get the brainstorming started. It was a simple prompt - "What comes to mind when you think of Austin?" - that paid incredible dividends. This collaboration was the perfect kickoff for an event all about working together.
“The first image that comes to mind immediately is this mural that looks like a postcard. I think this is really ‘young Austin’ and reminds me a lot of the colorful, Keep Austin Weird, mindset.”
This quote really got us going. When the exercise was said and done, our talented designer Lucia had all she needed and worked her magic to create the branding for skucamp 2023!
The Power of Color in Branding

Orange is all about being creative, energetic, and enthusiastic - which is perfect for an event that's all about promoting creativity and collaboration. Blue, on the other hand, represents modernity, trustworthiness, and reliability - which are all important qualities when it comes to organizing an event that attendees can count on. We also added some complementary colors to really make things pop. And of course, we couldn't resist adding the iconic Austin skyline to our branding and website!
