Tyler the Creator’s merch game is sick

What do you get when you cross one of the most creative musicians today with the NFL? Grails upon grails. This genius collab between Tyler the Creator’s company Golf Wang, has dropped a collection for the 49ers, the Dolphins, Eagles, Panthers, Raiders, Rams, and now the Dallas Cowboys. Our faves? The letterman jackets. Trend prediction for 2025: Every creator with taste and a following will be in on the merch game.

2025 trend: High-end brands + merch collections

Colnago makes $18k bikes. The kind you spin on 2-wheels. But their story is legend in the bike world and they just dropped a merch collection for their 70th anniversary including this $2k trench and this tonal varsity jacket you can nab for $1900. Escape Collective, a news journal for the cycling world, wrote, “Colnago releases offensively expensive merch line.” The trend we’re watching? High-end brands making merch a gateway to their brand experience. Like how fashion couture labels use merch to create buzz. It's a trend we'll continue to see!

US supermarket brand becomes Paris merch icon

We’ve scribbled about Erewhon before but it’s simply because the high-end grocery store does brilliant merch. So brilliant that Parisian retailer Merci is bringing their merch to Paris as a collab to sell as a stand-alone fashion brand. When’s the last time you heard of grocery store merch —from a store that does not even have a presence in Paris— making the leap to fashion? What do you think, Backpacker, grail or fail?

Power Broker merch from 99% Invisible is 100%

The Power Broker is one of the most intense reads in biographical history. It's so incredible that one of the most popular podcasts, 99% invisible, just wrapped a 12 month series about it, dropping an episode each month. Author of The Power Broker, Robert Caro, is a 2x winner of the Pulitzer and for such an illustrious author, they created a cool merch collection worthy of his work, including this co-branded challenger coin for lit-aesthetes who finish either the book or the epic podcast series, plus a Baggu bag to tote your tome. 100% Backpacker approved!

🎉 In case you missed it, in Dec we dropped our 2024 year-end recap and it features a stunner: 1 million projects created on the commonsku platform in 2024 plus a 140% increase in shops and a 30% increase in ePOs! Check it out here!
